Yeah, it was an interesting night/morning ![]()
Straight line winds of 70-90 mph created a lot more downed trees and branches, marble sized hail = some dents in vehicles (fortunately the newer ones were
under cover
)
Lots of lightning always scares me ( I lost a favorite mare to lightning nine years ago this month.) This was all between 2:30 and 4:00 this morning. I
couldn't see anything in the pastures, and decided I'd wait till light to see what damage there really was. 6:30am it was light enough to see that the
larger of the two pastures didn't have the five horses it was supposed to hold
Threw on a robe and some mud boots - All five were out in the lane leading to the road
Hollered to hubby as I dashed to the barn - opposite direction - to grab feed buckets and ropes. There was no way I was going to make
the gate to the road before the horses, so I was HOPING they'd see the feed as more enticing. NOT
If you're watching the news and see a crazy lady running up and down a gravel road in a flapping robe and mud boots - just pretend you don't know
her. ![]()
They didn't go too far, and thank God we are so remote - not a single vehicle out there
Sheba finally decided the rattling feed in the bucket was more interesting than
the wide world, and of course the other horses couldn't let her have something they weren't getting. Had them all back in in a matter of 10 or 15
minutes, but it sure seemed a LOT longer. Only really minor property damage and no horsey injuries. Gate is fixed and all is well. ![]()
