So, as some people know, Cargo and I were going to move because I got a new job and finally wanted him to be close to me.
I had a lot of trouble finding a place for him, but finally did, and we arrived yesterday. He got a big, big, big stall with room for two of his kind! It does not have bars like his old stall
But is also much cheaper, probably since old junk, white paint and a concrete is cheaper, lol. (No picures). He can look around everywhere and has made friends (funny enough) with the neighbour, a little cremello gelding (a very very rare sight) that has lived in a tiny box stall with only a little hole in the wall, who now bites and charges and nips and is generally unpleasant. Cargo, being the mellow creature he is, lets him drink right out of his through and groom mutually, its wonderfull to watch them.
If Cargo was a stall-wall-kicker the stalls would not work out, but he just loves looking out of the stall, walking around, peeing and crapping everywhere he goes (Oh boy they will regret the "we-muck-and-feed-our-own-feed-and-bring-out-and-in-for-cheap" deal), and he walked in and out of the trailer like a pro (which he is), even though my mothers Citroen Berlingo Diesel coughed a good deal and sank lower and lower behind while we drove the 100 miles to Cargos new home
There is an indoor.. erm, if "sand on the floor and old planks and bords put up around it" qualify for an indoor, lol. Everything is funny or old or skewed or creaky or rather alternative, lol, but the stall is great, I dont have to *love* the people who seem rather reasonable anyways, and beautifull aurroundings do not mean the horses are treated well.
Plus, the greatest, best, bestest, most super thing is, that even though we are surrounded by farm land (which means fields of wheat and such) all the farmers have taken down the fences, and we can ride eeeeeverywhere! Looong treks, that go on for 20 miles before hitting larger roads or fences. That is highly unusual, and that, plus the giant stall (Cargo is 17.3 hh), were the major selling points for me.
I MUST take pictures one day when I get my cam from where it is hiding, it is absolutely crazy how it looks out there, some of the stalls - wow. Also, everybody fell head over heels in love with Cargo and how regal he looked, lol, I guess when all the other horses are funny mutts or STB's of the funny looking sort, or long-haired neglected-looking ponies, a giant horse towering 1½ hand over all the other horses does look regal, even though I am pretty sure many of the other horses there are way more usefull than Cargo, right now and a long time into the future, at least.
But well, I get full care for 250$/month, where I only had stall, hay and straw in the previous place for 220$/month. All I ever have to do is do the fun part, unless I want to do the dirty stuff, which I might want to sometimes, lol
