I'm posting in regard to an issue my mare is having with vehicles that pass on the road.
Her reactions range from
A. Bolt/shy and climb the nearest embankment (Buses, Motorcycles, loud cars, fast-moving vehicles)
B. Kick the passing vehicle while rearing and shying away (Vans... Lol, that woman deserved it!)
C. Stiffen up and jig a bit (Slow-moving, quiet vehicles)
Her reactions are annoying at best, and downright frightening at worst. Her habit is a very bad one, because the roads we ride on are medium traffic, but it seems like everybody is an idiot and can't take the time to slow down. I have been thinking that maybe I would get my sister to cruise past in our very loud bomber while I'm leading her, and mix it up by seeing if my brothers would be generous enough to drive past in their vehicles also. I am also thinking that at first I will try this on my neighbor's driveway which can be entirely enclosed so if she gets away the only place she goes is around the pasture.
Anybody have any ideas, suggestions, or anything? I am NOT above accepting and trying your ideas, and really want to improve my mare so she is a better, safer horse.
It may be a while before I am able to reply. Please do not be offended, I simply do not have constant access to the internet.
