Well to me over 16 hands is huge Not counting the weight. The trainer is a stock person too is all I know. I believe the guy wanted to start with trails and then see if he wanted to do more later with the horse. With her being what she is he has the option to do more than just trail ride. I could totally relate to that cause when I bought my first papered horse, I wanted papered so I would have more options. My budget was only $2500 though cause I damn sure aint rich

BTW, a bulky halter horse will still be bulky(muscles) even if you pull the additional weight off them. And how they are put together(conformation) determines how they will travel. HnH herself said, the way this mare was put together & her break at the elbow, made her travel roughly...(just saying)...

They might be a tall broad horse but not bulky. As far as Idg being halter bred, yes she was. As far as being a HIGHLY competitve halter horse, no she is not. She is not tall enough and actually needed more bulk. What she is though is a nice mare that CAN halter, can trail ride, been ridden around cows, stands for bathing, clipping, is not a nutcase, very people orientated, hauls great (I know cause I loaded her and hauled her myself) has no vices such as cribbing, weaving, pawing, and about anyone can handle her. I do not think the guy could have asked for much more myself and if I would have had an extra $7000 I would have bought her myself for a...what...wait a minute...a trail horse that I could also have more finish put on and also be able to SHOW her and have the option to Show her APHA or AQHA since she was double registered. I say $7000 cause I'm betting HNH woulda cut me a deal :LOL

1)Holy fucking mega-quotes in this thread.
2) You guys are getting terribly upset that people are "tearing down" HnH's horse. Nobody has said anything about the horse! But you're either too stupid, or it's part of the game, to ignore the fact that EVERYONE has said they think the fucking horse is quality.
It's like it was a fucking game. Let's see the board BLOW UP! Let's only tell half the story, the half that makes it look like the buyer is a fucking idiot. Then let's all sit back and laugh because we know something they don't know.
Sorry for the language. I've had a rough couple days, and shit like this is ridiculous! It's a fucking joke. You played the board, and now are all offended that you're getting "torn apart".

A good horse for one discipline could be a crappy horse in another discipline. My horses would be worth $50 as a trail horse and I don't care. I don't plan on ever selling them as one, if I did and someone shipped them anywhere for that use they would be very unpleasantly surprised. The mare was worth whatever she got for her, which wasn't an exorbinant (sp) amount and I don't care if the guy ships the horse to URANUS.

Please enlighten. There isn't a horse alive that can't learn how to carry the rider and himself more comfortably. No matter the confo. Unless you're riding a giraffe, or a tapir.Great news about the horse, FantasTic!

I haven't had my own horse for 3 years due to uni, in that time ive rode ALOT of different horses, only 2 would I have bought myself, they were far from the most expensive horses but they had a personality I clicked with and qualities I like in horses. I'd probably have paid more for either of these horses than what they were worth. If your buying for yourself, not business why not have what seems like a decent all-round horse with a personality you really like, instead of an amazing horse you just don't click with.

If your buying for yourself, not business why not have what seems like a decent all-round horse with a personality you really like, instead of an amazing horse you just don't click with.A LOT of why he bought her was because of personality. Idgie is a one in a million personality. Honest. She's a fantastic mare with a personality of gold. He even asked if she had a bay mare that might suit his purposes, she mentioned mine since I had recently considered selling her. He met Tess and said... thanks but no thanks! lol She's an excellent trail horse, is halter bred and well bred but her personality is... a bit much. Idgie was worth every penny he paid for her because she's a mare with the potential to do small shows, the potential to breed and is one of the best trail horses I've met (she really is a natural, I've never seen anything like her... again, down to personality). Her personality is what sold her, what he paid for her has nothing to do with her personality, it was just the clincher on the sale.
