Checking her folicals daily while continuing to tease is the best way to get a head start shipping semen. You dont want to wait and discover shes at another 50 something.....IMHO. What a mare ALWAYS does is to be inconsistant. That you can count on. Nice stallion BTW. You should post a picture of your mare. I want to visualize the cross !

When I ride my horse I get to forget I have a brain injury I was the daughter who wouldn't lift a finger in the house but cycled madly off in the pouring rain to spend all morning mucking out a stable.

My mom's business supports the horses, and my dad's supports the house/bills and the house we can't get rid of (dragging everything down). My parents have a nice farm now because over the last 12 yrs they have added a little bit at a time. We do have really nice horses, but all of them we got as a deal, and every horse my mom (or myself) has ever bought has been 10k or less, which is very cheap in the WB world. We only buy when we find a good deal! With the breeding thing - WB semen is suprisingly cheap compared to other breeds, so if your mare only uses one dose it is possible to breed to one of the most popular KWPN stallions in the world for under 1000. So sometimes things appear to be more expensive than they are. What really helps is that we live in an area with low cost of living, and our farm is on "junk" land (making it cheaper). And having the at cost vet care and no trainer costs makes the horse things a lot easier to do ETA: yeah, I think I am VERY lucky. Couldn't imagine growing up without horses, or without land. I don't think I could survive in a city!
