...put together a Western show outfit?
(sorry, title was getting too long!)
I thought it would be do-able to buy a Western show outfit this summer, but Lilidh's injury has put me on a slightly tighter budget since I want to build up my emergency fund again. Anyway, so now I'm really looking hard at buying most of the outfit on a budget. Horseloverz has a few Western show shirts for around $30, so I might buy one of those, but not positive... Are there any popular types of show shirts that wouldn't show off a little pudge? lol. I'm *hoping* to lose weight again this summer, but if not, I don't really want to be riding in the show ring and worrying about my muffin top sticking out. ![]()
So, I'm thinkig either a slinky & Western vest, or one of the popular Western blouses w/the large cuffs...if I don't buy something from Horseloverz during their sale, I'll probably lean towards the slinky b/c they seem cheaper. I know Stateline Tack sometimes has sales on their Western chaps. All that being said, advice on a hat? I'll probably have to pick one out locally, I assume, to find one that fits and looks good. Things to look for in a good hat?
Ideas for where to find inexpensive boots? I already have a pair of lace-ups I wear day-to-day schooling, so I just need a pair that will hold together for two semesters of shows this coming academic year (I show IHSA).
What do you think of Horseloverz' shirts? I dislike that the XL (I doubt I'm that big, but it's the closest they have to my size) is in black, since I'll probably just go with black chaps and hat, so it's easy to match with boots.

Any good places online to look for used show clothes? I check out TackTrader and Craigslist fairly often.
