I am a competent rider schooling 1st level Dressage. I've also done a 100 mile week long distance ride, trail-riding, schooling shows, play-days for fun (no serious gaming), and played at calf-sorting. I've just had a baby and want to change gears a bit. I'm looking for something to LEARN Western Pleasure on. I have a trainer to take from near my house. I'd want to be able to show sometimes, but not extensively. Either mare or gelding, don't care which. I'd prefer a APHA, but registered anything is fine. I'd still plan to do a little Dressage, a trail-ride here and there, a calf-sorting, etc. just for fun. Safe and sane are the main things I'm looking for. I'm 5'9", so can't be too short. MUST tie and not buck/bolt/rear/bite, etc. NO arthritis, otherwise old is fine. I've owned and enjoyed TB's, a Morgan, Appy's, etc. I've never had a Paint before so they sound fun. Must already have a jog and LOPE, not a fast racing canter, and a lower head-set. Show-ready isn't a must, but they have to be close-ish and enjoy going slow. I have a capped-t-post dry-lot paddock that's near small-dressage-area size. It'd be an only horse as soon as my 3 yr old gelding sells. Must have good feet. I have a cash budget of up to $3000, but I'd like to not spend the whole thing. I'm willing to go on the older side to get the training I want for my price range.
