You can't have temperament on horses. When something doesn't go well, you quickly get upset... that's not for horses, that's for husbands. ~ George Morris Survivor of the Great Kitty Massacre '08

How kind of you to help her in every way that you can! I would be glad to pray for her. Do you mind saying her name?I wonder if a hysterectomy is an option but wow, that must cost the earth and it is quite intrusive on your mare and no guarantee that all the C cells will be taken. Just thinking "out loud." Never mind me.
If there can be good news, it is pain-free and she can enjoy all your pamering. "Lucky horse" is right!
Every horse deserves to be so highly valued! Congrats to Ruby. She's won the owner lottery:soshorses wrote:
The journey we have taken with Ruby is a long one but basically she is stage one navicular. Tiff and I both feel that it would not be right to expect her to run barrels even with the best farrier/vet care. She will breakdown somewhere else and we will end up killing her. Her life is worth more than the few dollars she may win.

This will once again remind them they have no life, making them incredibly jealous of you. Remember, they only said mean things to you because *they* ARE jealous of you!Step 5: Pack up your toys and leave.Congratulations! You have successfully shown the forum who is "boss."

Well, thanks guys... Even my vet said that TB's with her personality and the way she's attached herself to me are few and far between. And because it was HIS call to u/s, he's also told me that he'll do all her "monitor" ultrasounds on the house, only charging me the call fee.
I've only had her for a few months, but her personality has won a permanent place in my heart... I got her JC papers with her, and judging from the previous owners she's just gone from one foal factory to another until she got to my place and her new "job" of being a non-aggressive buddy to my accident-prone gelding. Whom, I might add, has been injury free since she moved in!Here's a pic of the old girl with her paddock buddies, "My Lucky Day" (the gelding), and "Heart and Soul" (My other TB mare). She's the one in the middle. Her name is "What A Lover", but I call her SpellBound. BTW, this is the view off my kitchen deck... I feed then get to watch this while I have my coffee in the morning.I asked him about removal, and his response was that she would not be a good candidate for that intense of a surgery due to age, etc.And here's another pic of my Pasture Queen, the day she arrived "home". (Yes, she was pretty skinny then)

That's was more of a wish of the heart than anything to do with reality. I said the same as you when I said it is intrusive / synonym for invasive. And I am also aware that it is rare that hysterectomies are done on mares - again, wish of the heart.
