Keeping your horses at home means ALWAYS being there, no vacations, no shows unless everyone is going, etc, etc etc. For me, boarding is, and probably always will be, the best solution. They are taken care of better than I could myself. I physically cannot dedicate enough time to them to take care of them to my satisfaction, so they are boarded. Now, I will say the ONLY way I will ever board again is in a barn, with a trainer on site, completely in said trainer's program.

I keep my horses at home and it is a 24/7 job.
When I ride my horse I get to forget I have a brain injury I was the daughter who wouldn't lift a finger in the house but cycled madly off in the pouring rain to spend all morning mucking out a stable.

You can't have temperament on horses. When something doesn't go well, you quickly get upset... that's not for horses, that's for husbands. ~ George Morris Survivor of the Great Kitty Massacre '08

Well, my post was started because I am thinking of buying a house in a year or so, need to get a few things squared away before I even begin the process. But I am trying to decided if I wanted a home with land or just board out a horse-that would be many years down the road. I really enjoyed boarding our horses, I always had someone to care for them if I wanted to do something. But having them at my place was fun too. So I was just curious as to what everyone else liked. I guess if you had horsey neighbors that would really help if you kept them on your own property, but that is a gamble. Anyone use those "pet sitters" to care for their horse while on vacation?

Step 2: Make sure they understand that *they* are the bad person in this situation. It doesn't matter if you are wrong/crazy/begging. They are truly the bad person. Step 3: Once again insult their lack of life, state they have nothing better to do than bash good, innocent people like yourself.Step 4: Tell them you have better, important things to do than argue with them. This will once again remind them they have no life, making them incredibly jealous of you. Remember, they only said mean things to you because *they* ARE jealous of you!Step 5: Pack up your toys and leave.Congratulations! You have successfully shown the forum who is "boss."
