I have a QH broodmare that is due to foal in about 6 weeks. She is a very slow eater, and according to her old owner (I've owned her for only about 3 weeks now), she's always been that way. She has hay in front of her at all times. To me she doesn't seem to be eating enough hay. My ponies eat just as much as she does, and she generally just eats a little, wanders around, eats a little more etc.
I'm worried that she's not getting enough nutrition. She's a great weight and you can tell aside from being heavily preggo, she's still a healthy size. She's got a healthy coat, bright eyes, and is just generally healthy overall. She's on mare and foal grain. Should I add anything else to her diet to make up for her low hay intake, or should I just leave her as she is?
