I was thinking about this today at work. Our horses are kept outside 24/7 now, and at the last house were kept out pretty close to that (only stalled for special circumstances like severe weather, farrier coming, etc). *knocks on wood* they are hardly ever hurt, not even minor cuts and scrapes. Occasionally one (out of 4) will get an abscess, usually in the winter when the ground freezes. The horses at the barn are kept stalled probably 20-22 hours a day, and yes, while the numbers are higher which probably increases the chances of injury happening, they seem to get hurt all the time. Most of the time it's minor, but still. This is just my experience.
I suppose it could also depend on the setup of the barn and if that somehow contributes to the horse getting injured more often.
What have you noticed?
