Im not very good at telling a short story, so kudos and points for reading:
So decided to just catch him up in his bridle. So after traipsing across to the other side of the field to find him
he casually walks up like "hey mum, didnt see you there!"Feed him his bait carrots put the reins over his neck, get the bit in his mouth and reaching to get it over his ear when he flings his head up and takes off. The bridle obviously comes off his head and starts trying to 'chew off his legs'. This is quickly solved by some mad galloping around and the destruction of said killer bridle.
Ok, thats what I get for being lazy and not fetching the halter.

Ok, thats what I get for being lazy and not fetching the halter. So back to house, fetch halter and spare bridle and out to start all over again. Catch pony with halter, lead back to stable, groom, feed carrots, tack up and lead out. Only as I lead him out of our rather narrow door, he barges past me, sending me flying and gallops off up the field to re-join his buddy. WTF??? So dust myself down, check for any snoopers and re-catch pony (3rd time lucky?)
Mount up and leave field for the trail. All the time thinking "am I wise heading out on my own with only slightly wound up pony and next to useless Labrador for company?" Clearly I am not.
Anyway, head out on trail. Pony goes like a dream. No hesitations, no spooks, no napping, nada. Acts like an old trail pony should! (he has only done this particular trail once and with another horse leading the way). "Brilliant!" I thought, we have had a breakthrough! So enjoy the lovely trail and the steady pace, and about 3/4 of the way around, pony was pretty warm by this point, so took him along a path where there is a shallow, ditch with a run of water in it (water dosnt even cover a hoof and is only about 4" wide) but ponio refuses point blank to go into it. When I say go into it, I mean walk down the slight decline into it.
So I get off, try and show him the way, even scoop some water in my hand to his mouth (normally he readily drinks anything offered) but nope, Crocs or summit must live in there dont you know! So get back on, try again to ride him in when he then takes a step into it, hesitates, stumbles, jumps back and sideways out of it, depositing me off his left shoulder. I land on my left foot, promptly go over ankle, feeling 'pop' in the process and crumble in a heap.
Panic sets in, still have a hold of pony, who just stands there (thankfully) then dig out cell phone to call for help. Phone parents - no answer, phone horsey friend - no answer, more panic, my so-called useless lab at this point is whining and crying trying to get to me, which sets me off crying (as well as the pain). Call sister, finally someone answers! except with the panic I say I have fallen off in the woods and I think I have broken my leg, please come help, call for Becky (2nd horsey friend/neighbour) to collect horse. So great, now help is on the way, slight level of calm - decide to get boot off before they cut it off, thankfully my boot is very soft leather and I managed to get it off without too much pain. There was no way they were cutting my boot off!
Then decide to call Becky too (who used to be a police officer), who panics worse than me, asks if I have called an ambulance and says she is on her way!!
So Becky turns up, puts all her policing first aid into action, wrapping me in her coat (even though im sweating buckets at this point) but it might be shock!! and trys to elevate my leg. Then my sister and mum turn up, then, some forestry workers who saw all the cars coming up the track! So one of the guys is holding Sheridan, Becky is nursing me, sister takes dog back to car, mum standing over me shaking her head, and then the doctor on call turns up. Who proceeds to tell me its not broken, just an inversion, and to go home, elevate and rest it and take some pain-killers. So he gets me to my feetfoot, and helps me hop to his car, which is when the real pain sets in
So then as he is writing down details, the ambulance arrives, they ask me a series of questions, discuss with doctor, fetch me some gass and air
and tell me they are going to take me to A+E for an x-ray. Commence floods of tears...
So finally get an x-ray, which at first they said they couldnt see anything, but on re-examination, they discover I have chipped a bone (dont know which one as I didnt see the x-rays) So cast on and set of crutches.
But as everyone keeps telling me, it could of been worse...
So my dad goes to check pony today, who has a couple of scrapes, and phones me to say that his (ponies) right eye is all white and foggy??? So he then comes to fetch me to have a look and I just phone vet as it looks scary.
Vet happens to be coming to neighbours pony who has had an allergic reaction to Danilon after being kicked, so would take a look. Somehow Sheridan has scratched his eye which has now ulcerated, but she thinks he must of banged it aswell (due to the appearance of it) so he is getting eyedrops (his own plasma blood cells) and wearing a dark fly mask. She is visiting again tomorrow to check its progress.
So with our first show only 2 weeks away, im bloody pissed off!!! and already under my arms are sore from using the crutches, and my leg keeps twitching which sends an electric shock up my leg everytime!
sorry, had to share, feeling very sorry for myself!!!
