Farrier was to come out today and re-shoe Babe.
He can't come out today to re-shoe Babe and he's about to be gone for three weeks.
Babe is shod only because he has a cracked hoof that is growing out nicely.
He's slipping already, farrier says one shoe is probably loose, but he obviously needs a trim, too.
BO offered to pull the shoes, but I'm concerned that the half-way grown out hoof will split again, since it's only half-way grown out
and the ground is even drier than it was when it cracked in the first place.
But another three weeks in these shoes and longish hooves isn't really a viable option.
there one other farrier who comes out, but he's a pompous ass and I won't pay him a damn dime or let him touch my horse, nor will BO (some of the guys like him).
What to do...
