Jasmine's appointment with the vet is at 2.45 this afternoon. She's been an amazing, incredible dog. My children's best friend and protector against all comers. My comfortable companion to come curl up against my leg.
Two weeks ago she came down violently, suddenly sick. It's lymphoma, and it's all through her. We've had her on antibiotics and pain killers for the duration, but she is no longer happy or comfortable, so we're going to let her go now, before she can suffer any more. She's been spoiled rotten for the past two weeks, and has let me know that she's ready to lay down and go to sleep. I'm having a hard time with it, more so than any animal I've had to put down in years.
I'm going to miss my sweet girl. I hope her happy hunting grounds have lots of open space and rabbits to chase, and long, sunny days to roll around in the grass.
