I'm wondering what is FiSH's opinion on the best (or good) times of year to geld?
I want to geld my colt ASAP (he is 5.5 months old and dropped) because I hear it can get them growing a little tiny bit faster (I want to do everything in my power to help him possibly grow tall LOL), but we are coming up on winter.
I've heard it's best to do it when there are no flies, but the breeder told me winter was a bad idea. Why is that? Is it because they don't move around as much? I'd obviously hand walk.. On that note.. How often should you hand walk and for what length of time after the gelding?
Basically I'm asking if winter is okay or if I should wait until the spring. There's no rush (other than above) as he's separate from my mare.
Thanks in advance!
