Ok silly question but what makes paint a breed? No snark really but I don't understand what characteristics set them apart as a breed vs a coat pattern. For instance with appies there are the striped hooves, scerla and mottled skin that even absence the sterotypical coat spotting still allows them to be indentified as such. The only reason I question it is because to my knowledge paints are first and foremost QH or appendix who didn't make the cut into the registry due to the white rule and just cant make the connection how that makes them a breed. Can someone give me a primer in Paints for Dummies?
