You know the belief around here of you take all precautions something bad will happen?
I fall into this category. The second week of July, my 2 year old degloved her left hind and had an exposed bone. This meant being sent to the hospital for 1 week, changing bandages 2x a day for the first two months, hydrotherapy, hand walking, biweekly visits from the vet, and thousands of dollars. We were still bandaging her daily until today and she was still on limited solitary turn out. The tissue was almost completely healed but her leg would still swell when not bandaged for more than a couple of hours. It had been many hours of work for my trainer and I. I also had a lot of help from fellow boarders and friends.
Well I got the phone call at 4:30 from my trainer, the phone call that you never wish to get.... let alone twice. She was injured on her left hind ( sound familiar?) that the vet was already out and could do nothing more and the transport company was waiting for my okay to ship her to the hospital because she ripped open her leg where she had been wounded at the SAME place and almost as bad as before. The tissue that grew back and the scar tissue that was finally looking like normal skin is gone. It was all for nothing. I have 6 months of the same as the last and all I want to do is roll myself into and ball and cry.
