It would be "normal" for women to have their original last name and it would eliminate a hell of a lot of problems for people down the road, since 50 percent of marriages end in divorce. It's archaic in this day and age.

My daughter has been caught texting and driving, even texting my oldest son and when his girlfriend texted back telling her not to reply and stop texting she would not. She just does not understand how dangerous some of these things can be. Maybe I am a nervous nellie.lol

I changed back to my maiden name even though I have two boys with his last name. My thought was I wasn't married to him anymore I wanted MY name back.

You have to tell everyone you've changed it, and remember to change it on all your legal papers - that's the hassle. My friend not only changed hers back, but she gave herself a middle name, which she'd never had!

That wasn't what people were discussing, just changing it back, once you have taken your husband's name. Oh, OK, I see what you, and she, were saying now. I think it's a little easier for a parent to have the same last name as a child, but not that big of a deal in this day and age. I never assume that a parent has the same last name as a child. To make matters really confusing, I know a woman - a real hippie, Mother Earth type person (and really annoyingly so) - who has given her first name as a last name to her children - all 5 or 6 of them, last I checked. So her first name is Brooke, with her maiden name, and her kids' last name is Brooke. Yes, it really isn't a big deal having a different last name from your children. The main "issue" I encountered on the kid end of things was people occasionally assumed my parents were divorced. Which is easy enough to do and not a big deal. It is probably true in most cases, anyways.
