That pony is a GELDING! They did SOMETHING with him... there are FAR worse things going on in the horse world today that a not so pretty GELDING that someone took the time to show in 4-H... maybe they started him too young (if they did it was most likely because they didnt know any better, not for finacial gain).. but... by earning those lousy 4-H ribbons, that horse has a shot at a home instead of a one way ticket to Canada or Mexico.... go bash on the people who really deserve it.

There's nothing wrong with displaying them ON him, but if they're going to do a second pic, I'd like to see a kid up on his back riding him around. 4-H is a great organization. Not everyone can afford or has access to a riding school. And it's not just horses, 4-H encompasses just about everything you can do with livestock and pet animals.
My point - you got it. If you're going to pay for two pictures in an add for your horse at least let them both be of your horse! The ribbons on the reins and maybe the kid holding the trophies..fine.. I was just annoyed over how big of a deal they are making one 4-h show out to be.. From what the add says he was only shown once. No one cares about seeing your proof sitting on a table.. we'll take your word for it. How about an actual picture of the kid 'riding' this wonder-horse. I just thought it was funny. Im not making fun of 4-H. I did the 4-H thing for years even though it was a joke.. still have most of my ribbons too. I showed Dairy goats and chickens so you can imagine the crap I put up with in school. "Haha.. Jennifer smells like a goat!"... Anyhoo.. Some of you may be reading more into this than I intended:) God love the force that is the FHOTDMB!

Right! What's so bad with showing what they accomplished in an ad for peats sake. I think it gives the poor fugly grade pony an edge over the other fugly grade ponies (and there is a gazillion of them out there). Hey- it got your attention didn't it?? Showing or competing in anything is not free and they at least put some time and money into him. You need to give them a break.

If I wanted to place an add for myself on a singles website would it be dumb of me to put in my add that I was drop dead sexy and could cook a wonderful 10 course meal and then put a picture up of a Thanksgiving Turkey I had prepared? How much sence would that make?
To someone who is looking for someone who can cook a mean Thanksgiving turkey, that would make a TON of sense. Now, I actually saw a horse in the picture, so I do believe this would be comparing apples to oranges. Just another pathetic example of someone trying to be impressively snarky. Go look for ads that asshats actually post. With skinny horses, barbed wire fencing, and litter in the stalls. Don't knock someone who actually posts a picture of the friggen horse. Good God.

Don't get angry because some folks believe that 4-H isnt a big deal.

Hell, I don't even show at all, not that I wouldn't like to. I guess its the same as the add I saw of someone advertising a horse with "white stocking" and all they showed was one far away picture of a sorral horse grazing in a field and then an upclose pic. of a horse's stocking leg. I said in my original post that Maybe I was in a particularly cruel mood.

And the PC manual is the best book in the world, has anything you could possibly need in it. This sounds more run by volunteers, but the principles sound good!
This was the deal where I grew up. Pony Club was great, but not all of us could afford it. Some knowledgeable people started a 4-H, and it was a huge bonus for us kidlets who couldn't afford rallies and such. I can see how it could pretty much suck if the leaders weren't any good (visions of MeSue selling Colin to the KB's, anyone?)
