So thanks to the Marine Corps gods my husband was able to get home on Wednesday, after being gone for almost a year, just in time to embark on my fall break Riot Fest extravaganza.
Thursday evening we headed north to pick up my sister and then on to Chicago. Friday night was fucking epic after waiting 3 and a half hours at the Cobra Lounge for Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls finally came on. It was a small club and I was close enough to be sweated on by Frank Turner. At the end of the hour and half set I was drenched, had no voice, and was battered, it was great.
The crowd screamed the lyrics so loudly it was jacking up the sound system. The poor husband went outside for a few before the music started and got stuck in the back, probably for the best we were a rowdy group.
On Saturday we got to Humboldt park at about one to see Frank Turner again. The afternoon group was much more chill and there was lots of dancing and singing along. We then got to see Hot Water Music, GWAR, Andrew WK, August Burns Red, Mexican Wrestlers, a drumming monkey and all kinds of crazy stuff.
At 6:45 Dropkick Murphys played. Now I have been going to DKM shows for a decade. Never before had I experienced anything like this. Too many drunk posers, but we gave them hell right back.
More pics eventually.

Recovering from the Murphy's pit.
