I have been seeing a massage therapist for awhile but recently the office she was working out of closed. She told me where she would be working next so I decided to see her there.
This new place was a Primary Care physicians office and a few things bothered me right off the bat.
What got me the most is they had a form for you to sign agreeing to give them a $50.00 deposit in case you miss an appointment. On this form you had to write down all of your credit card info and agree for them to charge it for a deposit and again if you missed any more appointments. I refused to fill the form out and offered to leave. I ended up having my appointment but with the understanding that I must pay the deposit if I want to come back. It's not something I am willing to do. I have many physicians and have only been asked to sign a form agreeing to pay a fee for missed appointments if I wish to be seen again. The whole situation seemed bizarre to me... the office manager/Dr's wife kept telling me I just needed to trust them. I can understand how much of a pain it could be for them when people miss appointments but can you imagine shelling out a $50 fee at all of your doctors? I have a ton of specialists so I would be out several hundred dollars. What if you want to stop going....now you have to go in and get your money back. I have to wonder also if you had to cancel for some emergency and they manage to fill your slot if you would still lose your money?
Meh...I have already made up my mind but was curious if anyone else had run into this. Maybe I am extra touchy about this since I am anal about making my appointments and being early.
