You should try touching her Lilmutt.
It's so gross. I hate hate taking a brush to her, I have to you know. Can't leave the funk.Aramsamsam can tell you, you can stick your fingers a good half inch in between her ribs without pressure. Her back is sort of like a weird flat shelf with a ridge in the middle. You can kind of see it in the picture above. See how her mane lays at the wither. What gets me the most. They tolerate everything. They are 'hot' or 'antsy' horses, but once you start working on them they settle right down. Vacuum no problem. Spray no problem. Clippers.. what ever. Raven would not let you touch her ears at all when we first got her. 3 treats later you can rub and play with her ears. Rook paws if she is tied and you're not doing anything with her. Pick up a brush and she stands quietly. It's really strange and a bit surreal. I honestly don't know if they are trained as I was told. If their physical state is causing this tolerant, well mannered behavior, I figure by the time they have some energy, they will be "broke" to all the shenanigans we are doing to them. I am a big beliver in talking to them and telling them what it is I am about to do and why. I explain what exactly will happen and what I expect from them. They accept it. I hope all goes well tomorrow for Raven and her float. We have a sling and 5 people will be on hand in case she goes down. After talking with the vet, our plan is to sling her, float her and then wait and un-sling her. We will use as little medication as we can. I worry. I hope it is not too late for her. Her heart and mind are willing. I just pray her body is too. I wish it was May and not Dec.
