Ok, so I'm a smoker. I'm not currently smoking, but once a smoker, always a smoker. (That's my philosophy - like an alcoholic.) I joke that I'm only one really bad day away from my pack-a-day habit. But really, it would take more than that.
While I've quite many times before, this time I feels more real. The reason? E-cigs!
I was skeptical at first. But after my last two month back-slide I just knew I had to at least try it. My DH also back slid with me (common to have that happen in couples) so I purchased a couple of the tobacco flavored e-cigs and told him it was time. So we took the plunge and never looked back. I started always having one on me and taking a puff or two once an hour or so - mostly just when I had a smoking urge. Now I can go days without having a puff. Mostly I grab it when I'm drinking.
I've tried the minty ones, but it's just not for me. I haven't even tried the sweeter ones. The seem yucky and like they would interfere with the flavors of other things.
Many places are now posting signs saying they don't allow the use. While I personally don't care, I do think it's silly to put them in the same basket as actual cigarettes. There is no smell or smoke or anything that lingers after a puff.
As far as it being bad for you - there is not a chance in hell it's anything as bad as actual cigarettes. I know there are anti-smoking folks that say things like they, "are a gateway to smoking." Um... no. No they aren't. If a kid gets their hands on a cherry flavored e-cig, there's no way that kid is going to think, "hmm... I think I want to try something that is less good tasting!" It's such a stupid argument that I am sure most here are smart enough to see that.
Anyway, wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has their own.
