Never say never, I guess. And I know lots of people don't have this option and wouldn't even choose it if they could. Keeping horses at home means there's very little social interaction, no riding arena (at least for me!), someone has to be here when we travel, we have the upkeep, etc. But I LOVE being able to step onto my deck and see the horses. Right now, they're grazing in the back yard. That's the edge of my desperately needing a new paint job deck (should be getting painted in the next couple of weeks...yeah!)

Sebastian's sweet face. He is such a "gentle soul."

But, he's too small. Hubby has been riding him but doesn't want him as his riding horse long term because of his size (haven't sticked him, but he's not much taller than Holly...maybe 14.2). So we will eventually sell Sebastian.
That's going to be HARD. If his next owner is harsh with him at all, he'll lose all the progress he's made. He's a "desperate to please" type horse, very loving, wants to be praised, etc. He no longer umps/spooks at people movements (as in, for quite a while, if anyone raised a hand to gesture, point, anything, he'd jump out of his skin), he willing comes TO people now instead of trying to stay far, far, away. He's stopped being over-reactive under saddle, too. Still very light, quick, and responsive, but a random wiggle no longer sends him into a spin or flying backwards...he's learned to listen to cues and if he doesn't understand something, he'll try without being frantic.
He didn't get ridden last week, so needs a good grooming!

My Holly girl...she, too, will be sold (eventually...probably...can you tell I have a hard time letting go?) Ty goes to his first "easy" clinic next week...depending on how that goes, he'll go to our next week long MP clinic for formation work, obstacles, etc...depending on how THAT goes, he'll be the horse I ride all the time. If some of that doesn't go as well as I'd like, Holly will still suit up for MP work. Essentially, I'm letting Ty determine the speed of everything...I'm not going to rush him since I can still ride Holly...and since he just turned 4, giving him another year to mature is fine with me if needed.

And just because he was outside, the old man. Sam is 11ish? Maybe 12 or 13 now? Most days, he acts just like he did as a 1 yr old.
