|Sharon Lundquist Brown will not return Pacific Carriage, accessories and harness||#345||[-]|
|Posts: 14 minutes ago||I wish that I had read this before I GAVE my registered Haflinger (Lavmi) that was imported from Austria to Sharon Lundquist Brown. We were looking for a good home for her as she had foundered twice but had recovered both times to the point that she was not limping at all. Vet said very little rotation. We were ready to put her down as breeding her would be complicated by her tendency to founder. We tested her blood for Cushings but she did not have it. |
I put her photo out to my friends on FB and told Lavmi's story with full disclosure. Sharon Lundquist Brown contacted me via FB. I wrote back to her that she was welcome to come see her and that my husband would be at the ranch to show her as it is his horse. I told her in my message the reason why I was giving her away as morally I could not sell her knowing she had foundered twice and may again. I was not at the ranch so I never actually met Sharon Lundquist Brown. Sharon Lundquist Brown arrived at the ranch with truck and trailer and a friend with her. My husband told me that they loved her and wanted her after trying her. Sharon Lundquist Brown was interested in purchasing our Pacific Carriage 2 wheel with the extra competition shafts, the groom step and her Smuckers show harness. She signed a paper saying that she has these items and will purchase when we had come up with a price or she would return them. I felt confident that since we had it in writing I could let her take these expensive pieces of equipment. I paid for the horse ownership registration papers (65.00) to be transferred into Sharon Lundquist's name and she had received the full registration papers.
She promised to send photos and keep us updated on Lavmi. I did receive several FB instant messages telling me how wonderful she is and how well her daughter is doing with her. They were taking her out on trail rides, shows and gymcanas. I cringed at the gymcana as she has foundered twice. I did have to stop and think that this was a small child on her and that it probably would be ok and not as stressful as competitions that I have seen. I have copied and saved the entire thread since the beginning for future use.
I gave Sharon a price for the Pacific Carriage and all of the equipment and she said that she has had some bad luck and would not be able to afford it. She said she would bring it back when she can as her truck is broken down and will cost 2500.00 to fix. I told her that I do not have any way to come and pick up the cart as I do not have a truck. She said that it would be October of 2014 at the earliest before she could bring it back and would let me know when. Months went by and I contacted her again to see if her truck had been fixed. She said she had some other issue with it now. I asked her to find a friend with a truck and offer to pay for the gas. She then offered for me to come get the carriage and equipment and I had to remind her that I do not own a truck and that I would have to have a friend help me and drive the 1.5 hours to Tonapah. I was unsuccessful in finding someone and I relayed that to Sharon Lundquist Brown. I again asked for her to return the equipment as she took them with the option to buy them and signed a piece of paper that she would bring them back if she could not purchase them. I in not way am obligated to retrieve my belongings as I never indicated that I would do so as I had no way of transporting them.
One and a half years have gone by and I contacted Sharon again. I am ready to start court precedings. I Googled her name and found this site with the article regarding the Fjords. I wish I had seen this before as I would have never agreed to allow her to take the horse or my equipment. Sharon replied to me and I quote, "I am at work right now, but I've told you a thousand times you can pick your crap up anytime you like, but we are not under any obligation to deliver. And considering the lies you told when you suckered us into taking the mare saying you would provide her x-rays ect showing zero rotation in her hoofs that to this date you have never made good on. You even stated it in your add, What a iece of work There are plety that know what I've been thru with this mare including professionals who can attest. I shoud sue YOU! Not to mention chrge you storage at the very least."
I replied to Sharon Lundquist Brown telling her that I will contact a lawyer on Monday and the charge will be grand theft. I also told her that if she has a problem with how much rotatioin Lavmi had, she needs to take it up with the attending vet in which I had given her the name and phone number and had told her that they will gladly give the new owner the copies of all records. I reminded her that she did not pay anything for the horse and that I had given full disclosure as that is the reason I was giving her away and not selling a registered Haflinger A+ rated imported from Austria. The shipping from Austria alone was thousands of dollars. I had thousands into training as we had used her for competition driving.
I am now wondering the fate of Lavmi and feeling very sad and guilty as we should have just put her down then. I also wonder now about my Pacific Carriage and equipment as anyone in their right mind would just return it and avoid being served and a court hearing. This indicates to me that my Pacific Carriage and equipment is either damaged or sold. From what I read about the Fjords, she did not win the case and had to pay for the court and for all attempts in serving her. Any normal person would by gun shy now and would return the equipment.
I gave her till December 6, 2015 to return my belongings. Stay away from doing any business with Sharon Lundquist Brown.
