People have said that it's "in my head" and that I've always secretly had a fear of gray horses. lol, but I can argue that.
Anyways, my worst crashes always happened to be with gray horses/ponies. The first one ever was a green pony named "Grizoux" (It's french). and I was 8 y/o so I was still young. However someone switched his bit for one that was every different and made the horse very uncomfortable. Of course be being an 8 year old, how was I supposed to know? I got on this pony, it took 10 minuted and I was thrown into a wall convieniantly close to the mounting block which I fell into after hitting the wall. *OUCH*
The second time, our family when out looking to purchass a horse, and this one ws a nice arabian, I lvoe arabs, I was 10 years old at this time. I had some experience, I got on the horse and rode around, everything was awesome. So my mom said "Ask him into a canter" "ok" so I squeeze my legs, and the horse freaked out and did 3 HUGE bucks, and made me fly way over his head.
The third time I was riding a large percheron QH gelding named Ripley. He was one of ours, I was 16. I was working the horse and he was going so smoothly and nice. I was so happy aboutt his horse. Then one of our other horses neighed and Ripley broke into a gallop. I am so used to horses taking off on me, to I sat back and used my voice to calm the horse to bring him to a stop. But, I'm weak, and he's a large draft horse. lol
So he was headed toward the fence where he stoped and turned, and I went right into that fence. I was down for 3 days and recovered after 2 weeks. (I remember crying cause I couldn't get up the stairs when I had to go to the washroom) lol
And last when I was 17, I decided to ride another percheron gelding. He was veryy nice, my little sister rode him, my older sister rode him and my mother rode him. they were great. I decided to tack the horse up one day, doing a nice working trot, and once again, another horse got this boy excited, and he broke into a gallop, toward a fence.. with rocks......
so I bailed. lol
And ever sicne then I said "NO MORE GRAYS!"
And people tell me it's cause "I'm riding a gray horse and the horse sences that I'm scared"
It's not true, there have been a couple grays that I didn't almost kill myself with. Every time I rode those horses I fel confident about my ride, and everything was always going well. It seems to be a classic.
But now I haven't ridden a gray horse since I fell off the last one, and now I think that if I did get one a gray horse I might intimidate it with fear. So I think that currently a crash with a gray might happen because of my prior accidents that I remind myself about. However it wasn't until the last one that I discovered my bad luck with grays.
