Yesterday I went on a trail ride and I saw a woman riding a horse and her butt was as big as her horse's, no joke. I saw her when we first arrived, she was leading her horse as she passed us I noticed that her butt was as wide as her horse's. For perspectives sake her horse was approximately 16 hds Quarter Horse type well proportioned and fit. I also noted that her horse's back looked very hollowed out almost swayed. Mind you that could be caused by many things but surely her weight couldn't be good for him. I felt so bad I almost cried. I have always said if you Ass is as big as a horse's ass you shouldn't ride but I was only kidding I have never actually seen that until yesterday. When she mounted she had to use a mounting block which was rather ridiculous because later on during the ride she had to find a ditch to put him in so she could get back on. She had to be at least 100 lbs overweight. I truly think if you are that fat you should not ride a horse driving would be fine but riding absolutely not. In speaking with her she stated that she Jumps him and does eventing with her other horse. EEEEEEKKKK.... can you imagine her eventing. Jumping is harmful enough on a horse but when you add a 280 lbs person to the mix it is cruelty. I wanted to get everyones opinion on this because my bff yesterday kept saying I was being overly critical (mind you she is overweight herself although not that fat). I think a good test for riders would be for them to stand side by side with their horse and have someone take a snapshot of them from the rear, if the riders ass is the same size or bigger as the horse's ass they should either: lose weight, start driving the horse, sell that one and buy a draft horse, or put the saddle on their own back and let the horse ride them.
